THE TWELVE PLAYS OF CHRISTMAS KEPT UNDER WRAPS UNTIL 13 DECEMBER

It is most unusual for the Alderney Theatre Group not to promote their forthcoming productions by publishing photos of dress rehearsals with more details about the show.

However, as the Journal is going to print on Thursday 11 December – the first performance of this year’s show “The Twelve Plays of Christmas” and will be on sale on Friday 12TH  December, our second and last performance –  we simply cannot spoil the fun and suspense for our Friday night audience by giving everything away before the last show. Therefore, until Saturday morning 13th December, this will be a closely guarded secret and at this stage we cannot tell you more about “THE TWELVE PLAYS OF CHRISTMAS”  – other than:

Lasting just over one hour, this non-stop show features numerous individual sketches including Alderney’s two very popular choirs “Wine & Song” and “The Acafellas”. And just recognising the characters of some famous Radio and TV shows will make this a very engaging and highly entertaining event.

The Twelve Plays of Christmas is a kaleidoscope of comic and original sketches, written by Lee Flewitt and Bev Hope-Smith and directed by Charlotte Newton. The 17-strong cast includes some very familiar faces –  as well as several new thespians, some aged just 7 to 12 whose performances will have you in stitches!

Our stars of the show are (in alphabetic order): Lesley Chapman, Rosie Evans, Alex Flewitt, Natalie Hildon, Beverley Hope-Smith, Maria Ives, Marie Roberts, Moira Sleeman, David Stanley, Cameron Watson and Lucie Woodnutt. Our youngest stars are Grace Chapman (age 12), Imogen Cotton (age 11), Willow Kirkland (age 9), Willow Pycroft (age 7) and Aiofe O’Toole (age 11).

Hilarious and very colourful costumes designed and delivered by Clare Evans, Liz Sumner and Beth Mahy with stunning wigs by Sue Gaydon, clever props created by Trevor and Lisa Sanders and Ronnie Cairnduff and delightful music played by Toby Matimong provide the perfect setting and ambiance for each individual scene.

At the time of going to press, both performances were sold out.

A review with the cast performing in their amazing costumes, will be published in the next Journal and a wide selection of photographs will also be published on the Theatre Group’s Flickr website.  Thank you for your patience and understanding. ENDS
