MINUTES OF ALDERNEY THEATRE GROUP OF AGM HELD 11 April 2024
Committee Members present: Lee Flewitt, Alex Flewitt, Charlotte Newton, Ilona Soane-Sands, Ronnie Cairnduff, Moira Sleeman, Andree Smith, Tess Woodnutt, Donald Hughes, Ian Corder, Lucie Woodnutt, Edward Hill, as well as over 20 members of the Alderney Theatre Group
Apologies: Nigel Vooght and Candy Osborne
Lee paid tribute to the late Tim Butler. Tim was a long-time contributor to the Group and will be greatly missed.
He then introduced Ian Corder who presented some ideas to encourage younger thespians.
- Inhouse kids’ drama workshop programme possibly hosted by the school or the Honeybees nursery.
- A Horrible Histories type of event or events at sites like the Nunnery. He has already written some scripts.
Lee brought us up to speed with the progress of A Wake, a 1-act drama written by Lee, directed by Charlotte Newton and performed by a 7-strong cast, which will be presented at this year’s Guernsey One-Act Play Festival (18-25 May at Beau Sejour). This will be the first time the Alderney Theatre Group is taking part. However, there will also be two performances at the Georgian House Orangery on 15 &16 May at 8:00pm (tickets £10)
Alderney Week’s theme is “Step Back In Time”. Lee and Ronnie will soon be putting sketches etc. together for Gala Night.
Lee also mentioned Michael Turner- Samuels’ idea to run a video disco in the quarry at some point around the dates of Alderney Week. Possibly reprise the Pink Floyd Show there. A Rolling Stones video is in the offing.
Sarah Simpkins is looking to perform “Murder in the Frame” as a proper play in the Autumn.
Edward Hill is planning to put on a Christmas panto based on “Ello Ello.” He also wants cast for a Sloppy Restaurant Show – which will be a take of “The Rocky Horror Show’… in the Blonde Hedgehog and La Ville around Halloween.
Tess asked for actors to participate in a hospital emergency exercise which takes place on 25 April from 9:00-12:00 noon.
A proposal to increase the annual membership fee to £15.00 was carried unanimously and will be effective from next year.

Co-opted members: Alex Flewitt (Music & Choreography) and Candy Osborne (Accounts).
Previous Committee members standing down were: Charlotte Newton, Tess Woodnutt, Andrée Gaydon-Smith and Moira Sleeman. We would like to thank them for their valuable contributions and hands-on support throughout the many years they served on the committee.
The meeting closed at 7:25pm and was followed by the EGOT Quiz Supper.
