The latest addition to the Alderney Library’s collection is a fascinating historic record of the Alderney Drama Club founded in 1948 and now known as the Alderney Theatre Group.

Four big albums containing photographs, press reviews and programmes of all productions and performances from 1949 to 2021 provide lively, colourful and entertaining historical records and are proof of the amazing local talent raising the curtain or bringing the house down across 72 years of Alderney show business.

Although some of the stars of the stage are sadly no longer with us, they leave fond memories of their performances and their determination to entertain the good people of Alderney and the many visitors.

Alderney Library Committee member Hilary Bentley welcomes the new additions: “The library is really pleased to give a home to the Alderney Theatre Group archives. They are a wonderful record of the group’s entertaining endeavours over the years.”

All albums are available for members of the public to enjoy at the library and the more recent productions are also recorded on DVDs. Please tell your family and friends about this and anybody you know who had connections with the Alderney Theatre Group and their past and present performers.
And if you’ve ever been on stage, there might be a photo or two of you entertaining the audience.
