AGM 29 April 2022: Chairman’s Report

The Georgian House Hotel Friday 29th April 2022

It was a quiet year! In no small way due to Covid restrictions of course

We did have a Play Reading evening at The Georgian House, in March well supported and with thanks to all who took part. And in May, again at The Georgian House, a dinner event followed by two Murder Mysteries. Both hugely entertaining and extremely well received.

Again thanks to all who enacted Lee Flewitt’s brilliant script in front of amazing stage sets. Congratulations to all concerned. Sadly Covid restrictions stopped Alderney Week, which usually involves our theatre group but plans are in place for 2022 to be better than ever

The Youth Group have sadly cancelled a much anticipated production but it is hoped that the young performers will be encouraged to join in with all forthcoming events and to become involved with the committee

The committee is hopeful of bringing entertainment to all, who are starved of live entertainment. I urge everybody to keep looking at our brilliant web site for news of what’s on

I thank everybody who has continued with support by membership. It is such a tiny price at £5, to pay towards our existence and huge thanks to the sponsorship we receive to be able to bring events.

The Alderney Theatre Group holds a database of members and newsletter subscribers, which we will not share with any third parties. In accordance with Data Protection Act, The Alderney Theatre Group is now registered with The Office of Data Protection Authority

Tragically last year Barbara Featherstone, our treasurer and a much loved fellow thespian, passed away. We all miss her very much and, in her memory, we have planted a rose named “Barbara” in the Memorial Gardens and plaque inscribed “A Rose named Barbara” is fixed to the stone boarder. Our thanks go to the  members of the Alderney Horticultural Society for planting it and looking after it.

We would like to thank Nigel Vooght for accepting to be our new treasurer. Nigel will produce an annual report and copies will be provided on request.

The committee thanks all who help and support us and I sincerely thank all members of the committee. These several years I’ve had the privilege of being part of ATG have been such a great pleasure and I do hope you’ll continue in your roles in the coming year

Ronnie never-say-no Cairnduff and especially Ilona are amazing in all they do The Theatre Group just wouldn’t be the same without them.

Finally, this is my last report

This year I have received permission to retire but I really will do all I can to support you all.

I absolutely know that my successor will be everything that ATG needs to carry on into the future

With agreement from the committee Lee Flewitt will be your new Chairman

Linda Aldis
