A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FOR OUR MEMBERS

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all our members!

2024 has been a memorable year for the group with a tremendous boost provided by our first ever entry in the Guernsey One Act Play Festival. A Wake garnered five nominations and three actual awards, including best original script and best direction.

Another award came at the national event in Coventry, and I would like to thank all our sponsors and the helpers who gave so generously in getting us to the venues.

The Vicar of Dibley was a new departure for the group as the characters are already established as among the nation’s favourites, which meant that a lot of work had to be done impersonating them. Casting was key, and by all accounts, we pulled it off splendidly.

Because of copyright issues, we will not be able to post any footage of the performances, so it really was a once in a lifetime experience.

The new year beckons, and I have already started writing another production for the One Act Play Festival 2025. We will perform it on Alderney first so look out for the world premiere of “William’s Account” in the spring.

We will be looking to bring in other acts and celebs over the cause of the coming year, so please keep up with your membership subs and we will keep on bringing you quality entertainment.

If you are interested in participating in our theatrical activities,  either on stage, behind it, or in front, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We are always on the lookout for new talent, technicians, and crew.

I look forward to a vibrant and entertaining 2025.

Chair – Alderney Theatre Group
