Last Thursday 23rd October, Alderney was treated to an unforgettable evening of world-class music as legendary singer Kiki Dee and acclaimed guitarist Carmelo Luggeri performed to a captivated audience of 140 people at the Island Hall.
The concert marked a rare and intimate opportunity for islanders to experience the duo’s unique blend of acoustic artistry, soulful vocals, and heartfelt storytelling. Performing a carefully curated selection from their collaborative albums, alongside Kiki’s timeless hits such as “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” and “I’ve Got the Music in Me”, “Amoreuse” and “Loving and Free”, the pair held the audience spellbound from the first note to the final encore with rapturous applause after every song.
Between songs, Kiki and Carmelo shared anecdotes from their decades-long partnership and musical journeys with the likes of Sir Elton John and Dusty Springfield, creating an atmosphere that was both personal and uplifting. Their stripped-back arrangements showcased the emotional depth of their music, highlighting Kiki’s enduring vocal power at 78-years-young and Carmelo’s virtuosic guitar work.

The event was organised by the Alderney Theatre Group with the help of Vaughan Davies. We would like to thank the Blonde Hedgehog for sponsoring both stars’ 2-night accommodation.
“It was a privilege to have artists of this calibre perform here in Alderney,” said Alderney Theatre Group Chair, Charlotte Newton. “Kiki and Carmelo’s connection with the audience was truly special – it gave us enormous joy to be able to bring them to the island.”
The concert concluded with a standing ovation – and the duo expressed their gratitude for the warm reception from Alderney residents, hinting at a possible return visit in the future.
