About us The Alderney Theatre Group was founded in 1953 but actually initiated in the late 40’s by the Saturday Club which was then producing entertainment for the island. The Alderney Theatre Group’s Articles of Association specify its objective and raison d’être, namely “ to promote dramatic arts in Alderney” and just about every year since its formation, the Alderney Theatre Group has been true to its promise: producing shows, plays and entertainment, some home-grown, and some imported from the UK or the other islands. In recent years, these have included performances on board a theatre ship, outdoor performances by the Rain or Shine Company during Alderney Week and cabaret shows such as Shoo Shoo Baby. Home-grown productions have ranged from pantomimes – “Dick Whittington” (February 2006) to ‘Stars in Their Eyes’, ‘Alderney Pop Idols’, the ‘Alderney Week Gala Night’ and two spectacular outdoor performances of ‘Battle of Trafalgar’ (July-August 2005). And there are several great shows to look forward this year. For pictures of previous shows click here Our biggest wish is to find a long-term corporate or private sponsor for the Alderney Theatre Group with whose support we will be able to continue to promote and perform dramatic arts in Alderney. The Alderney Theatre Group is keen to recruit new members – not just wannabe thespians, but anybody who can help with the production of props and costumes, sound and lighting or just be on hand behind the scenes.
